Mayo Clinic Stabile Building Phase IIICategory: Medical Facilities, Structural
Architect:Rolland, Delvalle, & Bradley
Contractor:Auld & White Constructors
The building is steel-framed utilizing composite steel floor beams. Originally designed as a four-story building, the capability to expand vertically to ten stories exists. The wind and foundation systems were designed to accommodate the future floors. Provisions were made to expand the vertical transportation systems a floor or two at a time. Vibro compaction was utilized to increase the soil bearing capacity eliminating the need for a deep foundation system and saving the owner money.
